Nutrition after Weight Loss Surgery

Good nutrition is a vital component to staying successful after weight loss surgery.

Post-Weight Loss Surgery Nutrition Tips

  • Meals and snacks should be half protein. Choose lean options such as fish, chicken, or lean beef. Avoid meats that are fried or breaded.
  • Include non-starchy vegetables at meals. Non-starchy vegetables include foods like tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, or green beans. The starchy vegetables (potatoes, peas, and corn) should be avoided.
  • Save starches for special occasions such as holidays or birthdays. Starches include bread, rice, tortillas, and pasta.
  • Stay hydrated! Try to reach at least 64 ounces of water daily.
