Healthy Holiday Events for a Cheerful Season

The holidays are upon us. For many people, that means get-togethers with friends, families and coworkers, long nights of celebration and more frosted cookies than you can eat in a year. While overindulgence is a common downfall during the holidays, you can also squeeze in some entertaining and healthy holiday events and outings to help keep it balanced. Check out our list of healthy holiday events in Oklahoma and gift yourself with some feel-good fun.

Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Frontier City

Now Through January 5: Create special family experiences with a breathtaking winter wonderland at Frontier City, featuring delightful and interactive activities for everyone. 

Botanical Balance Free Yoga at Myriad Gardens

Tuesdays, 5:30 pm and Saturdays, 8 am: Botanical Balance at Myriad Gardens. This free yoga class is held every Tuesday and Saturday at the Myriad Gardens, 301 W. Reno. Connect with nature and take in the holiday décor around the Myriad Gardens. 

Kids Mini-Wreath Class

December 14: Come use berries, sprigs of greens and your creativity to make a festive holiday wreath from 10 am to noon at Will Roger Gardens, 3400 NW 36th St, Oklahoma City. Pre-register online.

The Sandridge Santa Run

December 14: Held at 9 am for a 1-mile Fun Run and 9:30 am for a 5K, The Sandridge Santa Run means running in your festive attire for a chance to win a prize at the costume contest following the races. Proceeds from the race will go directly into Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership. All races start at SandRidge Energy, 123 Robert S Kerr Ave. 

Holiday Hand Soap Class

December 15: Holiday Hand Soap Class. Learn to make your own festival holiday hand soap from noon to 1 pm at the Okie Merc at the OKC Outlets, 7624 W. Reno.  You can make three foaming hand soaps using essential oils. 

Gingerbread House Workshop

December 20: Gingerbread House Workshop at the Myriad Gardens. Learn how to create a fun and fanciful gingerbread house while learning about the history of the ginger root at this workshop, held from 3 to 6 pm at the Myriad Gardens, 301 W. Reno.  All supplies will be included.

Learn to Curl

December 21: Ever wanted to know what exactly curling is or how to do it?  join Oklahoma Curling Club members at 9 am at The Myriad Gardens, 301 W. Reno, as they walk through the etiquette and rules of curling. 

Winter Solstice

December 21: Winter Solstice at Myriad Gardens. Starting at 6 pm, visitors can celebrate the longest night of the year with special entertainment and the Illuminations Light Show at the Crystal Bridge. 

Holiday Kids Camp at Threshold Climbing and Fitness

Dec. 23 and 24 & Dec. 27 and 28: If your kids are climbing up the walls around Christmas, register them for a special Holiday Climbing Camp at Threshold, located at 6024 Westlake Memorial Pkwy in Oklahoma City.

Opening Night Finale 5K

Dec. 31. Get into a healthy spirit of the New Year at 3 pm at Bicentennial Park, 500 Couch Dr, in Oklahoma City for the Opening Night Finale 5K. Runners of all ages and levels can ring in the new year and enjoy entertainment and refreshments. Your wildest costumes are encouraged and all runners will earn a medal and a wristband for Opening Night activities. 

Also, Downtown in December activities in Oklahoma City has events like snow tubing, the Devon Ice Skating Rick and other events to beat the winter chill and get moving.
