Vascular Disease

Vascular disease disrupts blood circulation, essential for delivering oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.

Vascular Disease

Vascular disease affects the circulatory system, impacting how blood is pumped through the body. Proper circulation is crucial as it ensures that all parts of the body receive the oxygen and nutrients they need to function. Understanding vascular disease can help in managing symptoms and preventing complications.

Vascular Diseases

Aneurysms

  • Aortic Aneurysm: A bulge in the wall of the aorta, the largest artery in the body, which can lead to life-threatening internal bleeding if ruptured.
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA): A bulge that develops in part of the aorta, the largest artery in the body, that runs through the belly. Over time the area can weaken and rupture, leading to life-threatening internal bleeding.
  • Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm (TAA): A bulge that develops in part of the aorta, the largest artery in the body, that runs through the chest. Over time the area can weaken and rupture, leading to life-threatening internal bleeding.

Peripheral Artery Diseases (PADs)

  • PAD: Plaque buildup inside the peripheral arteries (blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood to arms and legs), causing a condition called atherosclerosis. This reduces blood flow to major arteries in the body.
  • Carotid Artery Disease: Plaque buildup inside the carotid artery (blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood to the brain), blocking the normal flow of blood to the brain.
  • Lower Extremity Disease: Plaque buildup inside the leg artery, blocking the normal flow of blood to the legs and feet.
  • Renal Artery Disease: Narrows one or both arteries that carry blood to the kidneys, leading to potential high blood pressure and kidney damage.

Varicose Veins

  • Varicose Veins: Swollen, enlarged veins that bulge under the skin’s surface, typically on the legs.
