Expectant mothers should begin their prenatal care as soon as they discover their pregnancy. Visits throughout pregnancy allow us to closely monitor baby's progress and mother's health. Our pregnancy care is designed to help you have the most positive experience possible, by keeping baby healthy and helping mom manage the discomforts and side effects of pregnancy. During prenatal visits, your doctor or midwife will perform several standard tests on both you and your baby to assess any potential risks, to treat any maternal or fetal complications, and to monitor the growth and development of the fetus. You'll also receive counseling and guidance on various aspects of pregnancy, including weight gain, exercise, nutrition, and overall health. While most attention to pregnancy care focuses on the nine months of pregnancy, your postpartum care is important, too. The postpartum period lasts six to eight weeks, beginning right after your baby is born, and involves getting proper rest, nutrition, and vaginal care.
