The INTEGRIS Heart Hospital and the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute in Oklahoma City are dedicated to saving lives by combating one of America's most deadly killers by combining expert cardiology with world class heart transplants.
Just one year after its beginning, the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute became one of only a handful of transplant hospitals in the nation to perform a human heart transplant. The same year, Dr. Zuhdi performed Oklahoma's first piggyback heart transplant – implanting two hearts in one chest. At the time, only five such procedures had been performed in the US.
