Healthy bodies have long been associated with water workouts. As far back as the 13th Century, people flocked to hot springs in hopes of a cure or relief from their ailments.
At the Thomas Utterback Aquatic Center at INTEGRIS Health Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation, water therapy is used to treat all types of illnesses for both children and adults. Licensed therapists and aquatic specialists provide each patient with individualized treatment to help them attain their goals. Aquatic treatment is often done in conjunction with traditional therapy to provide maximum benefit.
The aquatic treatment session is personalized and may include basic exercise and walking or one of many techniques such as Bad Ragaz, Halliwick, Myofascial, or Watsu release.
Our aquatics program sets us apart from other programs. We offer one-on-one care by specially trained therapists in a comfortable, private environment. The water provides resistance for strengthening; the buoyancy decreases stress placed on the joints.
Our pool provides benefits to those recovering from various phases of injury or illness. The therapeutic properties of water combined with treatment by our specialized aquatic therapists help improve your mobility and function.
Our pool features a disinfection system utilizing hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet light that eliminates all harmful chemicals such as chlorine or bromine. We are currently the only facility in Oklahoma with this type of system.
Aquatic rehab services are also available at many Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Outpatient locations. Call 405-945-4500 for additional information.
