Vivek Kohli, M.D., is the director of transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at INTEGRIS Health Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Dr. Kohli's field of surgical expertise includes transplantation of liver, kidney and pancreas. In addition he performs complex surgeries for liver, pancreas and bile duct related problems including cancers related to these organs.
Dr. Kohli's medical education was at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi where he received advanced training in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgery. He completed a surgical residency at Stony Brook University in Long Island, New York.
Dr. Kohli is a certified transplant surgeon by the American Society of Transplant Surgery. He has a fellowship in transplant surgery from the Mayo Clinic, in Minnesota, and later gained further experience at Duke University Medical Center, in North Carolina. He has advanced training in living related liver transplantation from the University of Kyoto, Japan, which is the single largest center for living donor liver transplantation.
Dr. Kohli helped perform the first split liver transplant at the Mayo Clinic and the first living related pediatric liver transplant at Duke University Medical Center. His research interests relate to study of regeneration of the liver and its recovery after ischemia reperfusion injury. He has authored several clinical and scientific research papers and has presented his work at several national and international meetings.
